Filling the Well

While hunting for the elusive estate sale, Katie and I accidentally wound up in Empire Michigan, the entrance to Sleeping Bear National Sand Dunes. It is an amazing place, wind, water, storms, Islands! After 25 years in Santa Fe, it's always a bit of a surprise to find that Michigan has big views and astonishing colors. This because I struggle with the huge trees in the forests found inland.

Somehow the unplanned excursion was inspiring, refreshing, and I felt much more like getting back to the studio to do some work. I'm still wondering about the people that were brave enough to walk down the 450 feet to the water, did they ever make it back up to the observation deck?
